The second DemocracyNet.eu workshop, “Participation, citizenship and democracy in Europe,” took place in Zurich on October 27-28, 2012.

It aimed at looking closer into the role of citizens’ participation and democracy in Europe. The focus was on the relationship between (political) participation and democracy. More precisely, we considered the questions of the role of participation for the legitimacy and good functioning of the democratic process and of the tensions between participation and democracy.
