GECOPOL_Graduate First Geneva Graduate Conference in Political Philosophy
13th and 14th February 2020
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Department of Political Science & International Relations of the University of Geneva is proud to announce the first edition of the Geneva Graduate Conference in Political Philosophy organized within the framework of the Geneva Colloquium in Political Theory(GECOPOL). The GECOPOL_Graduate will take place on the 13th and 14th of February 2020 at the UniMail, University of Geneva. The conference will offer graduate students a forum to present their works in progress, receive constructive feedback in a supportive atmosphere, and exchange ideas both with peers and with leading academics in the field of political philosophy from across Switzerland and worldwide.
The GECOPOL_Graduate will be structured in parallel sessions for graduate students’ presentations, and two plenary sessions hosting two keynote lectures. This year’s keynote speakers are:
- Fabienne Peter (University of Warwick)
- Francis Cheneval (University of Zürich)
Graduate students may express their interest in giving papers at the GECOPOL_Graduate by sending an extended abstract of their intended contribution (max. 1500 words – in English) accompanied by a short abstract (max. 200 words – in English) and a curriculum vitae, by 18 November 2019. Paper proposals may focus on any area within political philosophy and should be suitable for a twenty minute presentation.
Both the short and the extended abstract must be anonymized for blind review. The submission of paper proposals is open to graduate students currently enrolled in a PhD programme.
Conference attendance is free of charge and open to anyone upon registration. Anyone who wishes to attend the conference without presenting a paper should register by 18November. Details about the conference programme, meal arrangements and suggestions for accommodation (at the participants’ expenses) to follow. The working language of the GECOPOL_Graduate is English.
